Al Ahli Tripoli clinched the 2024-2025 Libyan Premier League title with a decisive 2-0 victory over Al Hilal in the championship-deciding match at the Città di Meda Stadium in Italy.
The breakthrough came early, with Rwandan defender Thierry Manzi heading home in the 5th minute from a pinpoint free-kick delivery by captain Hamdou Elhouni.
Elhouni then sealed the win in the 83rd minute, breaking through the defense with a solo run before firing and scoring the second goal.
The result saw Al Ahli finish top of the Championship Group with 13 points, five clear of runners-up Al Hilal. This marks the club’s 14th league title in its history.
Both Al Ahli Tripoli and Al Hilal have secured qualification for the 2025-2026 CAF Champions League, while Al Akhdar and Al Ittihad will represent Libya in the CAF Confederation Cup.
Al Ahli Tripoli are led by Egyptian head coach Hossam El Badry and sporting director Hady Khashaba.
El Badry becomes the fifth Egyptian coach to win the Libyan Premier League, following in the footsteps of Abdo Saleh El Wahsh with Al Ahli Benghazi, Ali Sharaf with Al Tahaddi, Tarek El Ashry, and Talaat Youssef, before his own triumph with Al Ahli Tripoli.
