The Competitions Committee of the Libyan Football Federation has officially suspended all league matches in the Western group (Zone Two) until further notice.

This decision comes in response to the recent security tensions in the capital, Tripoli, following the assassination of Al Ahli Tripoli honorary president Abdelghani Al-Kikli. Al-Kikli is an influential political figure in the region.

Despite the suspension in the west, matches in the East group, based in Benghazi, will continue as scheduled.

The Libyan Premier League is currently in its final stage, which features two groups. Al-Hilal Benghazi is leading Group A with 12 points after five rounds. In Group B, Al-Ahli Tripoli tops the table with 12 points as well, also after five rounds.

Each group consists of six teams. The group winners qualify for a playoff final to determine the league champions while the two group runners-up take part in a third place playoff to determine the Premier League's representative at the 2025-26 CAF Confederation Cup.

The league's final phase is expected to intensify in the coming weeks, but the current developments in Tripoli could have a significant impact on the tournament’s continuity and scheduling.
