Simba SC head coach Fadlu Davids has lauded his players for showing a strong mentality that helped them to secure a hard-fought 1-0 win against Singida Black Stars in a Mainland Premier League fixture on Wednesday.
In the fixture at KMC Stadium, Simba needed a goal courtesy of Ugandan forward Steven Mukwala to silence Singida, who are handled by Kenyan coach David Ouma.
“I would like to commend the players, the way we started the game was unbelievable, high intensity, creating chance after chance, no moment for Singida. It was really the mentality that we needed. You can put the game two days after CAF final, normally it is not fair,” Davids told Pan-Africa Football.
“Normally, the guys putting the fixtures have a different agenda, unconfirmed sources to give 200 million to Singida, but it is okay, but we win. They can do whatever they want but we won. The mentality how we started the game was absolutely fantastic. In the second half we couldn’t maintain the intensity and that is why we changed the defense line, so that we could manage the game much better, and I am very proud of the players.
“Whatever they threw at us, we showed we can fight and win the game, and that was the most important thing.”
The win kept Simba one point behind league leaders Young Africans (Yanga SC). Simba have amassed 72 points, while Yanga have 73.
