After Young Africans (Yanga SC) confirmed they will not honour their rescheduled Mainland Premier League Kariakoo derby, Simba SC have now confirmed they are willing to play the fixture planned for June 15 at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium.
On Wednesday, a top Yanga official confirmed to Pan-Africa Football that they will not play Simba again this season until they get justice from their case, in which they are demanding to be awarded a 3-0 victory for the unplayed match.
Simba Media Officer Ahmed Ally has revealed their happiness to have a date for the derby confirmed and further revealed their readiness to face their sworn rivals on the set date.
“We are very happy with the decision to play Yanga SC again. We are happy that the revised fixture is out and we now have a date for the derby. And as always, what we want to do as Simba is to play football. So when we see the fixture is out, we feel happy and have started preparing,” Ally told Pan-Africa Football.
“What keeps us here in the City is football. We are here because we want to play football, we have these jobs because we want to play football. So they have planned the game for June 15, and we are eagerly waiting to face Yanga on said date. But first, we want to lift the CAF Confederation Cup and then return to face them.
“We have already started preparations, it will be a huge game. It could be the game to decide who wins the league title, so we need to put in a lot of preparation, and I am confident that we will win the game. We will beat Yanga.”
Simba will be out for revenge against Yanga, having lost the first round meeting 1-0.
