Simba SC two-goal hero Steven Mukwala has discussed their important 2-1 victory against KMC in a Mainland Premier League fixture at KMC Stadium on Sunday.

Playing their last game in hand, the Msimbazi Reds found themselves trailing as early as the eighth minute when Rashid Chambo put the home side ahead from their first meaningful attack of the game.

But Simba remained calm and they managed to level matters in the 16th minute courtesy of Mukwala, before the Ugandan forward stepped up to score the winner in the 47th minute, after weaving past KMC defenders to slot home.

"I thank God for the brace, it wasn't an easy match, you know every match that Simba plays is a final, so against KMC, it was a tough game, they came very hard, they came to win as well but as Simba we know the task ahead," said Mukwala after the game.

"We gave our all and with God's grace, we managed to win."

On the impressive display of Joshua Mutale, who set him up for the second goal, Mukwala said: "I really like his improvement, you know, he started on a slow note the fans were booing him all and that, but we managed to give him the confidence.

"As players, the coaching staff, we stayed behind him, giving him that support, and it shows he is good mentally because he has started to deliver for the club and everyone is happy, we are all very happy for him."

The win saw Simba move to within a point of leaders and champions Young Africans (Yanga SC). Simba have 69 points accumulated from 22 wins, three draws and only one defeat.
