Simba SC head coach Fadlu Davids has been named the NBC Tanzania Mainland Premier League coach of the month for May while Ugandan forward Steven Mukwala scooped the Players of the month award.
The South African coach was handed the award following his success to lead the Msimbazi Reds to five straight wins in the top-flight. He was listed the top coach after beating Young Africans (Yanga SC) coach Miloud Hamdi and Rachid Touassi of Azam FC.
During the said month, Simba defeated Mashujaa FC 2-1, JKT Tanzania 1-0, Pamba Jiji 5-1, KMC FC 2-1 and their recent 1-0 win against Singida Black Stars.

On his part, Mukwala was honoured for the Player of the Month award after edging out teammate Jean Ahoua to the gong. During the said period, Mukwala was involved in five goals that Simba scored, scoring four and assisting one.
The five straight wins helped Simba to keep pressure on league leaders Yanga as they reached 72 points, one less than their rivals. Simba have played 27 matches, won 23, drawn three and lost only one.
Meanwhile, out of 27 matches, Yanga have won 24 matches, drawn one and lost two. The two giants are scheduled to face off in a title-deciding fixture on June 15.
