Singida Big Stars coach Robert Matano has revealed their readiness to take on Young Africans (Yanga SC) in a Mainland Premier League fixture at Kwaraa Stadium on Monday.
The Citizens will head into the fixture seeking to stretch their lead at the top of the 16-team table with rivals Simba SC not in action following their involvement in the CAF Confederation Cup where they defeated Stellenbosch from South Africa 1-0 in the first leg of their semi-final clash on Sunday.
“It is a very important game for both teams, especially for us because we are not in a good position so far in the league, and we are going to come up against a team that is complete both off and inside the pitch, but my players have prepared well, mentally and physically to give it a go,” Matano told Pan-Africa Football.
“In football the most important thing is how prepared you are heading into such a big game, how mentally ready are you, and the players understanding what is important for the team, Yanga play well and score easily, and if we rectify our mistakes, then we can stand a chance to get a good result against them.
“We have worked on our weak areas especially the space that we give to opponents at the middle of play, and our leaking defence, so we have worked on how to neutralize Yanga because any player in Yanga squad can come out and make a huge difference in any game.”
Yanga are currently sitting top with 67 points, 10 more than Simba, while Singida Big Stars are 11th with 29 points from 26 outings.
