Ligi Kuu Bara: Yanga turn it on late to down KMC

Young Africans (Yanga) scored three goals in the final half hour to defeat Kinondoni Municipal Council on their return to action in Tanzania’s Ligi Kuu Bara.

Pacôme Zouzoua’s second half strike confirmed victory for the reigning champions under interim coach Patrick Mabedi. The Ivorian playmaker set up the opening goal from Maxi Nzengeli before visitors KMC equalized just before halftime.

KMC, in last place with only three points to their name, provided a firm challenge and threatened to claim a point but a fluid team movement down the right wing led to Zouzoua’s match winner for the hosts. Substitute forward Andy Boyeli put the result beyond doubt with a penalty kick before Yanga added one more goal in stoppage time.

The result leaves the Dar es Salaam giants in first place for now, one point ahead of rivals Simba SC who have a match in hand. A clash between Namungo and Azam FC will finish up the action from Tanzania’s top flight later on Sunday.
