Young Africans player Dickson Job has revealed their desire to seal a double over their bitter rivals Simba SC when they face off in a Mainland Premier League fixture at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium on Saturday.

Having beaten the Msimbazi Reds 1-0 in the first round fixture, Job believes the players are motivated enough to pick another maximum points from the Kariakoo derby so as to remain on course to win a third consecutive league title.

“All players we are ready for the derby. We understand the importance of the three points from the game and, therefore, we have prepared accordingly,” Job told Pan-Africa Football. “What we believe is the game will be tough. We know they (Simba) have good players, so we have to take enough precautions and keenness.

“Yanga players are like soldiers, we always have to change depending on the environment. Several coaches have come in and we have managed to adjust the tactics to suit their needs. The good thing is that we have very good players, who can take any coach's instructions and work on them without any hesitation.

“It is the reason I am confident enough that we will get a positive result, we want the win, Simba want to win and that is why I am predicting a good game, we will not give up, we want to retain the league and a win from the derby will be a huge boost in our quest to retain the crown.”

During the first round meeting, Yanga beat Simba 1-0 courtesy of a late own goal, and in the opening fixture of the season – Community Shield final – Yanga edged out their bitter rivals 2-1. Last season, Yanga sealed a double over Simba, winning the first round 5-1 before beating them 2-1 in the reverse fixture.

In the previous season, after the two sides settled for a 1-1 draw in the first round meeting, Simba recovered to win the second round 2-1. In the last seven league matches, Simba have managed to beat Yanga once, while Yanga have registered three wins, with the other three ending in draws.
