Young Africans (Yanga SC) head coach Miloud Hamdi has revealed why his charges must double their efforts when they take on Coastal Union in a Mainland Premier League fixture at Azam Complex Stadium on Monday.

With rivals Simba SC not in league action as they prepare for their return leg of the Caf Confederation Cup against Al Masry of Egypt, Yanga have an opportunity to move seven points clear if they manage to beat the Coastal-based outfit.

“I have only one precaution, only one, to focus on this game, and to take this game very seriously, like a final, or like FA Cup, we must take this game like that, we have respect for Coastal Union but we all know to stay at the top, we must win all the matches,” Hamdi told Pan-Africa Football.

“I spoke with the players to take this game with a lot of seriousness, I don’t think we have achieved anything so far, we have done nothing, we have only won games which is okay, we play good football which is okay, but I know every game we play is a very difficult game, we never play easy games, because we are Young Africans, and all the teams want to do their best against us. We know that very well, and it is very important because any team that plays against us they always put in an extra effort, so obviously that demands that we give more than them.”

On injury concerns within the team, Hamdi said: “Khalid (Aucho) is definitely out, but I have to check again my squad to give the full list of those not injured. I will check with my last training to know what players I have for the game because every player that plays must give 100 percent, we will give everything against Coastal Union to win the game, we know we must give more than they give and that is the key.”

On whether he was under pressure at Yanga, Hamdi said: “I don’t have any pressure, I don’t and I am not under any pressure. Football is a good game, you play with many fans, and how can we have pressure in such?

“We enjoy the game, I don’t think anything or think about pressure, I have a lot of respect for Coastal Union and like I said, we will have to double our efforts to succeed.”

Yanga are currently sitting top of the league table with 61 points garnered from 20 wins, one draw and two defeats.
