Two African players were nominated for the Ligue 1 February Player of the Month award with Morocco and PSG right back Achraf Hakimi as well as Olympique de Marseille and Algeria forward Amine Gouiri hoping to win the accolade.
Moroccan international Hakimi had a slow start in February but ended it with a bang after bagging a brace against Olympique Lyonnais. The 26-year-old failed to play against Monaco but his performance against Lyon earned him a nomination in the final three of the monthly award.
Algerian striker Gouiri is enjoying a successful spell after moving from Stade Rennes in the January transfer window. The 25-year-old forward scored twice while providing three assists in the process of earning his nomination.
Both North African players will have to beat PSG’s in form forward Ousmane Dembele who bagged six goals in February as he eyes back-to-back Player of the Month awards.
