The "Tout Puissant" in the name of DR Congo's most famous club, TP Mazembe, means "all powerful" but the Ravens have not lived up to their name this season. However, they strengthened their top-5 position on Monday with a 2-0 victory over AC Rangers in the Championship stage of DR Congo's top flight Linafoot.

Second half goals in quick succession from Nigerien international Ousseini Badamassi and Gloire Mujaya confirmed a second consecutive victory for Mazembe. The defending champions previously defeated last placed Anges Verts on Friday.

Mazembe are now three points back of league leaders AS Maniema Union, who were held to a 0-0 draw by AS Simba in their previous match played at the end of last week. Aigles du Congo are one point back after the rising club in Congolese football were brought back to reality in a 1-3 defeat to DC Motema Pembe.

CS Don Bosco are level on 16 points with Mazembe in third and fourth place and DCMP complete the top-5, three points back of Mazembe and Don Bosco.

Action continues tomorrow from the Championship stage with the midway point approaching. The top finisher from this stage will be declared the league champion and will qualify for the 2025-26 CAF Champions League along with the runners-up. The third place team will qualify for the 2025-26 CAF Confederation Cup.
