The Banyana Banyana star said the goal had come at the right time, as she was about to fly back to South Africa to join the WAFCON squad.
“First league goal for me, I have been wanting it, and I have been working on getting it, and it finally happened, so I am really happy for that. It is a good position that we are on top of the league, we have got good momentum, so we just need to keep on working and hopefully be there until the end of the season,” Motlhalo said.
The 27-year-old said she was looking forward to WAFCON considering its potential impact on South African football and her career in the ScottishPower Women’s Premier League.
“Going back to South Africa, I am very happy to be representing my country. WAFCON is a big tournament. I am looking forward to it. Hopefully, it is going to be a good one for me. Playing in WAFCON is very good for me because it opens a lot of opportunities in that if you do well, you go to the World Cup and you get to compete against the best,” Motlhalo explained.
The South African was on target for Glasgow City alongside Nicole Kozlova, Abigail Harrison and Amy Anderson in the 4-0 victory over Motherwell at AK Park.
