Nigerian forward Ademola Lookman booked his place in the Copa del Rey final with Atlético Madrid despite a 3-0 second-leg defeat away to FC Barcelona.

The return leg of the semi-final was played at Camp Nou, where Barcelona attempted a historic comeback after suffering a heavy 4-0 loss in the first leg.

Barcelona managed to score three unanswered goals in the second encounter, but it ultimately proved insufficient to overturn the aggregate deficit. Lookman started the game before being substituted in the 58th minute for Nahuel Molina.

Marc Bernal netted twice for the Catalan side in the 29th and 72nd minutes, while Raphinha added a third from the penalty spot deep into first-half stoppage time (45+5’).

Despite their three goals, Barcelona were unable to find the crucial fourth goal that would have forced extra time. The match ended 3-0 on the night, but Atlético advanced 4-3 on aggregate.

Lookman and Atlético now await the winner of the other semi-final clash between Real Sociedad and Athletic Bilbao, scheduled for Wednesday evening.

The 2026 Copa del Rey final is set to take place on Saturday, April 18, with Atlético Madrid now just one step away from lifting the prestigious Spanish cup trophy.
