Atalanta coach Juric confirms Ademola Lookman set for return

Atalanta head coach Ivan Juric has confirmed that Nigerian forward Ademola Lookman is available for Sunday’s Serie A clash with Torino.

The news comes after a tumultuous summer in which Lookman openly pushed for a move to Italian rivals Inter Milan. This led to a public fallout, with the player reportedly training alone and being excluded from the team’s pre-season preparations and early league matches.

The failed transfer, which saw Inter’s final bid of around €45 million rejected, saw the forward train with his Atalanta teammates for the first time on Thursday, since pushing to join Inter Milan during the transfer window.

Juric while speaking in a pre-match press conference on Saturday said that the 27 year old and him has had discussions and is available for team selection.

“He’s spoken with me, the team and my staff. He was well received and from tomorrow, he will begin to be available to us.”

He also added that Lookman is not in his best physical condition.

“He’s not in the best condition given that he’s been training alone up until now. He did very well in training (on Friday).”

The 27-year-old is yet to feature for the Bergamo club this season. The winger however made two appearances for Nigeria two weeks ago.
