“Losing twice to Hearts of Oak is not a good news” – Nii Adjei

Ghana Premier League side, Heart of Lions gave a good account of themselves despite falling to giants, Hearts of Oak in the 2025 Gbese Mantse Charity Cup.

The Kpando-based club suffered a 2-0 loss to the Phobians at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday – a second loss in two years at the same venue.

Hearts of Oak scored twice in the first half with a goal each from new signing Frank Duku and Hamza Issah – handing manager, Mas Ud Didi Dramani his first silverware since replacing Ivorian Aboubakar Ouattara.

Nii Adjei, who once played for Asante Kotoko, TP Mazembe and Wydad Athletic Club of Morocco spoke after the Heart of Lions’ defeat to Hearts of Oak.

“I will say I am a bit disappointed because losing two times is not a good thing but that’s football, if you work you can win,” Nii Adjei told MaxTV.

“I think there were some lapses that caused us this defeat so we are going to work on it [and] we are still preparing for this league because last season we did very well and this season people are watching us to do very well.

“So we are going to use this game and the Top Four to assess the team and prepare very well for the league so we are going to take it game after game and then see how things will go because we have to build a good team for the season.

“Because every team will be coming at us because of last season’s performance so we are just getting ready and preparing for the season.”

The focus will now be shifted to the 2025 GHALCA Top Four competition which includes league winners Gold Stars, Hearts of Oak and FA Cup champions Asante Kotoko.
