Lugazi FC will be looking to build on their bright start to the season when they take on Entebbe UPPC at Bugonga Fisheries Ground in Entebbe on Wednesday.
Steven Bogere’s side kicked off their campaign in style, defeating newcomers Calvary FC 3-1 at Najjembe last week.
Goals from Paul Wasswa, Sharif Saaka, and Ashraf Mulindi ensured a perfect start, and the team is keen to extend that momentum.
Forward Sharif Saaka, who was on target in the opener, believes confidence is high but insists they won’t take their hosts lightly.
“We are very motivated, our target is nothing but three points,” Saaka said. “Winning the first game gives us momentum, but we know Entebbe is not an easy side. They have experienced players and good coaches, but our preparations have been solid and we are hopeful of a positive result.”
Unlike Calvary, who are still adapting to top-flight football, Entebbe UPPC bring greater pedigree. The side, formerly known as Gaddafi FC, secured promotion from the FUFA Big League last season and will be eager to bounce back after their 1-0 opening-day defeat to Buhimba United Saints.
Under the guidance of head coach Abdallah Mubiru, with support from Livingstone Mbabazi and former Uganda Cranes defender Godfrey ‘Jajja Walu’ Walusimbi, Entebbe UPPC have bolstered their squad with key additions.
The likes of Sam Kintu Tiyo, Bright Vuni, Rogers Omeddwa, Mustafa Mujuzi, Julius Poloto, Hassan Ssenyonjo, Noordin Bunjo, and Isa Mubiru are expected to play pivotal roles as they seek their first win of the campaign.
