Uganda Premier League side Lugazi FC have taken decisive action by parting ways with their entire coaching staff following a sustained spell of poor results this season.
The club confirmed on Monday that co-head coaches Francis Mugerwa and Steven Bogere have been relieved of their duties with immediate effect, citing failure to meet the club’s performance expectations.
“Francis Mugerwa and Steven Bogere have been relieved of their duties as Co-Head Coaches of the senior team with immediate effect after falling short of the club’s expectations.”
The shake-up extends beyond the two coaches, with assistant coach Gerald Efiti, goalkeeping coach Kizza Adam, statistician Alex Mugabi, and team doctor Jude Ssempijja also exiting the club.
Despite the abrupt end to their tenure, the club expressed gratitude to the outgoing technical team for their service and commitment during their time at Lugazi FC.
Lugazi currently sit 14th on the Uganda Premier League table, having collected just 10 points so far this campaign, an underwhelming return that has prompted the restructuring.
The club has further confirmed that a new head coach will be appointed ahead of the league’s resumption as Lugazi FC seek to revive their season and steer clear of further trouble.
