The potential departure of Chippa United midfielder Sinoxolo Kwayiba to Orlando Pirates has been a subject of debate in the South African media circles for some time now.
However, Chippa United executive director, Lukhanyo Mzinzi, has spoken out regarding the possible exit of their star man. Kwayiba’s stellar season with Chippa has not gone unnoticed, with his impressive displays earning him several Betway Premiership Man of the Match awards and a debut call-up to Hugo Broos’ Bafana Bafana squad.
The 25-year-old, who has scored seven goals and registered an assist in 23 appearances for the Chilli Boys this season, is now reportedly on the verge of a move to Orlando Pirates.
There are several reports indicating that Chippa United and the Buccaneers have already finalized an agreement for the transfer of the highly-rated midfielder.
In an interview on Radio 2000’s Game On, Mzinzi described Kwayiba as a responsible player who deserves everything right. “I think we are losing one, two or three big players this season. These big clubs whisper in the ear of our players,” said Mzinzi.
“Once they whisper whatever they are promising, you will find that the player’s mind is no longer in PE. But we are about giving opportunities.”
“We are proud of Kwayiba, we are proud of Stanley Nwabali and what these players are achieving. If Kwayiba gets a better opportunity elsewhere, the boy is responsible. He is starting to buy properties and other things. He is a fine young man who deserves everything in his direction.
“The time is right, and I also think he has withstood the challenge of having so many players in his position, who are in good form. But he has managed to make it to the Bafana Bafana set-up. He has done very well. We are proud of him.
“He must inspire some of his peers and the kids that he grew up with. He is a Chippa United player; I am not saying he is going anywhere.”
