South Africa forward Lyle Foster is over the moon following his club Burnley’s historic return to the English Premier League after just a season in the Championship.

Manager Scott Parker’s charges had a record-breaking season in the English Championship where they finished as the runner-up racking up 100 points, level with the league winners Leeds United who had a superior goal difference.

The Clarets’ second-place finish was enough for Foster’s side to make a quick return to the Premier League following their relegation last season. The 24-year-old forward expressed his excitement for his club’s record-breaking season.

“Promotion Day, 100 points, 30 clean sheets, 16 goals conceded and back to the Premier League. Record-breaking season,” Foster wrote on his official Instagram account.

“Grateful to be part of this amazing group, staff and whole team included. I couldn’t have asked for a better season with this group, injuries here and there, but that’s what makes us stronger. Stronger next season."

“Thank God for all my beautiful family, girlfriend, friends and everyone who supported and has been there since day 1. Still a lot to achieve, thank God. Jesus Christ is Lord.”

Burnley’s 33 games unbeaten run surpassed the record of 31 league matches without a loss, one set 104 years ago in the 1920/1921 season by Reading FC. They conceded 16 goals, kept 30 clean sheets, and suffered only two defeats on the road to their premier league return.

Foster, who previously played in the PSL for Orlando Pirates, featured in 31 games across all competitions for Burnley. He scored three times and provided five assists, mostly in a substitute role.
