Kaizer Chiefs new signing Lebohang Maboe has revealed his burning ambitions at the Soweto giants following a period of injury recovery.
The 31-year-old attacking midfielder is now fit, focused, and ready to contribute as the club embarks on a crucial CAF Confederation Cup fixture.
Maboe has been included in the 22-man squad that travelled to the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) for the first leg of the Second Preliminary Round against AS Simba. This highly anticipated continental clash is set for Saturday, October 18, at 3:00 PM (SA time) at the TP Mazembe Stadium in Lubumbashi.

After being sidelined, Maboe—who joined Chiefs from Mamelodi Sundowns—missed the initial round of the tournament against Angolan side Kabuscorp SCP due to registration rules. Now eligible, he is eager to make up for lost time.
Speaking ahead of the fixture, the seasoned midfielder disclosed that he is prepared to give everything for the badge, aiming to couple a high work rate with his valuable continental experience.
“I’m happy that I’m back from injury and planning to work hard to catch up with the rest of the guys who have been active,” Maboe stated. “I’m energized and ready to give it my all if given a chance, but will also share my experiences with my teammates to ensure we advance to the group stages.”
The player’s desire to “leave everything on the field” will be a welcome sight for supporters who are desperate for a positive result in the tricky away tie.
The Glamour Boys arrived in Lubumbashi on Thursday afternoon for the challenging encounter. This marks their second continental meeting with a DRC side, recalling their 2014 CAF Champions League Second Round loss to AS Vita.
Chiefs earned their spot in this round after narrowly defeating Kabuscorp on penalties, winning the second leg 1-0 to level the aggregate scoreline at 1-1 before clinching the victory in the shootout.
With his injury behind him, Maboe’s experience in Africa’s top club competitions could be a vital asset as Kaizer Chiefs look to avoid a repeat of past results and secure an advantage before the return leg.
