The move marks the club’s only addition during the mid-season transfer window, underlining head coach Alex Isabirye’s focus on reinforcing the defensive department as the campaign heads into its decisive second round.
Speaking to the club media after completing the move, Madoi expressed his excitement about returning to the Uganda Premier League and the opportunity to represent the Eastern Giants.
“I am so grateful to be here because it is a dream come true for me,” Madoi told the club’s media team.
“My target is to defend well and work together with my teammates so that we return this team to its glory days. To the fans, I promise to make you proud and together we shall achieve success for this club.”
Despite his relatively young age, the defender arrives with valuable exposure both locally and internationally. Madoi previously featured for Wakiso Giants FC before earning a move abroad in 2024 to Greek third-tier side SFK Pierikos.
He later continued his development in the United States with James Madison University, gaining further experience before deciding to return to Ugandan football.
Back home, his football journey first gained national attention while at St. Mary’s Secondary School Kitende, where he marshalled the defence as the school lifted the 2023 National Schools Championship.
For coach Isabirye, the signing is primarily aimed at addressing a defensive gap within the squad rather than a major squad overhaul.
“We had few numbers in defense, and there was need to beef up the squad with someone with good attitude and character. The right person was Madoi,” Isabirye explained. “With him, we believe we shall gain stability at the back. He fits well in our style of play and we are happy to have him here.”
Currently sitting eighth on the table with 23 points from 18 matches, BUL FC has struggled for consistency this season, with defensive depth identified as a key area that required reinforcement.
Madoi’s arrival comes at a crucial time as BUL prepares for their next Uganda Premier League assignment against Calvary FC in Njeru this Friday.
With the battle for a top-five finish still open, the defender will be hoping to quickly settle in and help provide the stability needed as the Eastern Giants push for a stronger finish to the season.
