South Africa’s Magesi FC coach John Maduka has outlined how he made the most of the FIFA international break.
The Malawian-born mentor said he made the most of the window to right the wrongs noted in the early phase of the Betway Premiership.
“The boys are getting better and better. Remember, we had to change the way we play. They never used to play from the back, middle third to the final third. We’ve been trying to do that, and they are getting better and better,” the coach explained.
Magesi, who are also called Dikwena Tša Meetse, played five league games that produced three draws and two defeats as of August 31, 2025.
In view of this, Maduka said his technical panel made the most of the international window to work behind the scenes to focus on specific areas.
“The usage of the ball has tremendously improved. So, in this break, it would help us to master that but also master those movements in the final third to be able to finish when we’ve got those chances,” he added.
The last game for Dikwena Tša Meetse was against AmaZulu FC and ended one-all, a result that gave the coach hope for better things to come.
Maduka was particularly happy that his team showed character to rise from the dead and force the draw during the AmaZulu match.
Magesi have a tight and tough schedule ahead starting off with Mamelodi Sundowns this Sunday followed by meetings with Orlando Pirates (17 September, away), Siwelele FC (20 September, home), Richards Bay (24 September, away), and Durban City [27 September, away].
The fixture line-up for Maduka’s men means they will play four games on the road and only once at home—not an easy task. However, the Bloemfontein Celtic legend is unfazed by the challenge ahead.
