The sixth matchday from USA's Major League Soccer featured thirteen matches on Saturday and two big money African strikers played major roles in victories for their clubs.
MLS record transfer Emmanuel Latte Lath scored in his third consecutive match in Atlanta United's 4-3 victory over New York City FC. The Ivorian's first goal contribution of the evening wasn't his most brilliant moment but Latte Lath's loose touch was perfect for Aleksey Miranchuck to fire in an equalizer to make it 1-1 before halftime.
However, the former Middlesbrough striker's pace and ability to disrupt was instrumental in Atlanta's dramatic victory. A long ball from the Atlanta half bounced into a troubling spot for the New York defense and Latte Lath pounced to take advantage of a miscommunication and score his fifth goal in six matches.
After playing two full matches with Togo and scoring against Mauritania during the March FIFA window, Kévin Denkey started on the bench for FC Cincinnati upon his return to the USA. But the former Cercle Brugge hitman's services were called upon at halftime with the game tied at 1-1 and Denkey would provide the match winner from the penalty spot in stoppage time.
It was Denkey's third goal in five MLS matches for Cincinnati, who are still struggling to find consistent form after a busy offseason that saw a new look team for 2025. The Togolese forward is set to increase his goal count as his chemistry improves with Brazilian playmaker Evander, also a new arrival for this season.
Finally, Cameroonian forward Eric Choupo-Moting provided his third goal contribution in as many matches for New York Red Bulls. However, it wasn't enough in a 1-2 defeat at the New England Revolution who won via a late penalty kick from Carles Gil.
