Banda, who also heads the fixtures’ committee, said the release of the match schedule marks a new chapter in domestic football.
“It is a very important day as we mark the start of the 2026-2027 season. Let me acknowledge the dedication of the fans and the commitment of our new sponsors FDH Bank. Each match among the 240 represents an opportunity to our players to showcase their talent and the coaches will also have an opportunity to write a new chapter,” he said.
“The 2026-2027 season promises a lot of fireworks as we will be watching the rivalries and the derbies from the opening match to the last match. Let us make the 2026-2027 season unforgettable and memorable.”
Banda added: “From the 240 games we have released today, each team will be allocated 15 games in the first round and 15 games in the second round.”
The opening week of the season will see defending champions Mighty Wanderers welcoming Karonga United at Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre while record 17-time winners will be on the road to kickstart the season with Civil Service United in Lilongwe as Kamuzu Barracks FC host 2024 champions Silver Strikers.
The ultimate Malawi league champions take part in the CAF Champions League while the bottom three clubs are relegated at the end of every season to the second-tier league, paving the way for newly-promoted regional league champions.
