Malawi: Leaders Big Bullets go three clear

Malawi record champions FCB Nyasa Big Bullets overcame Karonga United 2-0 on Saturday to go three points clear at the TNM Super League summit.
The 17-time champions had endured a frustrating week after losing 2-0 to Creck Sporting Club last weekend.
However, a goalless draw against Chitipa United and a 2-1 loss for their second-placed rivals Might Wanderers granted Bullets reprieve to still cling to top of the 16-member log table.
Therefore, Peter Mponda travelled to the Northern Region border district of Karonga aware there was no margin of error.
Bullets got the result they wanted with Wongani Lungu firing them ahead on the stroke of half-time before striker Ephraim Kondowe’s 85th minute effort sealed the maximum points.

Malawi Super League Updated Table

Wanderers can join the current leaders on 59 points if they beat rookies Ekhaya FC at Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre on Sunday.
However, it is never easy facing the rookies who are on a four-game unbeaten stretch.
In contrast, the Nomads are winless in two straight league matches, their previous 24-match unbeaten league run a distant insignificant fading memory.
If anything, it is defending champions and eight-time winners Silver Strikers who have momentum going their way heading into Sunday’s meeting with relegation-destined Songwe Border United.
The third-placed Bankers stand a chance to go second on the log table in the event that Wanderers, champions for seven times, huff and puff again.
The top flight league runs from March to December with the ultimate winner competing in the subsequent CAF Champions League.
