Malawi clubs warned as mid-season transfer window opens

The Super League of Malawi (SULOM) is set to open mid-season transfer window in the Southern African country amid a caution for clubs to follow regulations.

In a statement, SULOM says the window will open between 8 and 4 September 2025. The league’s governing body has since urged all clubs to follow the transfer rules and regulations to avoid facing sanctions including fines.

“Clubs are reminded to strictly adhere to these windows to ensure proper registration and eligibility of players for the second round,” the statement reads. “SULOM will not hesitate but impose appropriate sanctions on all parties that shall violate player transfer regulations during this window period.”

Mighty Wanderers currently lead the 16-member log table in the first round which is expected to wind up on August 10 2025. The second phase of the league will open on August 23 2025. Silverware Strikers are the defending champions of the 16-member league.

A season in Malawi runs from March to December. However, there are plans to re-align it with the international calendar.
