Silver Strikers FC's coach Peter Mgangira has warned his players against underrating rookies Songwe Border United FC in Thursday’s TNM Super League match.
Mgangira shared his thoughts for the match against the bottom-placed Songwe at Karonga Stadium in the Northern Region.
“It is going to be a tough match, but the players know very well how important these three points are,” he told the Lilongwe-based club’s media. “They know that it is a must-win game for us.”
The coach is aware that players for Silver might get complacent against the newcomers, who are winless in five consecutive games since earning promotion.
“The result of this match means a lot to us. It will depend on who wants it more. However, we want it more and will do whatever we can to grab maximum points,” Mgangira added.
Silver will be without strikers Gift Chunga, Sam Adeyemi, and Charles Chipala due to injury.
The TNM Super League defending champions are seeking an improved performance after winning one game in three opening matches of the infant 2025 season.
In the other camp, Songwe recently demoted coach Enoch Mhone after failing to win four straight opening games.
The club’s management hired Christopher Nyambose, who started his reign with a one-all draw against Mzuzu City Hammers FC on May 11, 2025.
