FCB Nyasa Big Bullets coach Peter Mponda refused to be swayed by his team’s fifth straight win after beating Chitipa United in Blantyre on Sunday, May 18, 2025.

Despite Bullets remaining on top of the standings after the sound win, Mponda said he was unhappy with how his players performed in front of a home crowd at Kamuzu Stadium.

“The scoreline is good, but the performance is not good enough. We didn’t play the way we wanted. In possession, we were very slow to rotate the ball. Off the ball, we were very slow to track down our opponents. Yes, the score line is very encouraging, but the way we played was very disappointing,” stated the coach.

Midfielder Mike Mkwate scored, and Nigerian forward Babatunde Adeopoju grabbed a double for Bullets to leave Chitipa fifth from the basement.

The man who led Silver Strikers to the Super League title last season wants more from his players, despite them delivering 16 goals and conceding just once in their five opening league matches.

The record champions’ next league assignment is against Kamuzu Barracks FC on Saturday.

Who else won over the weekend?

Elsewhere, Bullets' rivals, Mighty Wanderers, also maintained their unbeaten start to the season after seeing off Creck Sporting Club 1-0. They now trail Bullets by three points, but have played one game fewer.

Winger Francisco Madinga scored the only goal in the Central Region to pile pressure on the hosts' coach Joseph Kamwendo, who has won just once in four outings and is second from the bottom.

Elsewhere, third-positioned Karonga United made it three wins from four games as they cruised to a 4-0 victory over Dedza Dynamos FC on Sunday.
