Mzuzu City Hammers have announced head coach Kondwa Ikwanga Mwamlima’s exit by mutual agreement with the TNM Super League side.
In a statement, the Northern Region-based team’s general secretary, Benjamin Thole, did not state the reasons for Mwamlima’s departure.
He has since said they have stepped up the hunt for a new coach amid reports linking Enos Chatama, who resigned as Nyasa Big Bullets reserve team coach last week.
Mwamlima is credited for steering the unfancied team to its best-ever fourth place finish last season when they also reached the Castel Challenge Cup final which they missed narrowly after a 1-0 loss to Mighty Mukuru Wanderers.
In a related development, another Northern Region-based team Chitipa United has sacked coach Christopher Nyambose. Club general secretary Watson Kabaghe said Nyambose had left on mutual agreement weeks before the kickoff of the 2025 season next month.
