Malawi Super League: Peter Mponda names his former coach in Nyasa Bullets coaching panel

FC Nyasa Big Bullets coach Peter Mponda has named his former mentor Gilbert Chirwa and team-mate Fischer Kondowe to his backroom team for the record Malawi league winners.


Mponda, who took over from Zimbabwean Kalisto Pasuwa at Bullets, unveiled Chirwa as his first assistant coach and long-time team-mate Kondowe as the second assistant in the reconstituted coaching panel.


Chirwa is a Bullets legend and has been the Blantyre-based team's coach on many separate occasions including in the late 1990s when Mponda was playing for the former Super League champions.


The man, who won the TNM Super League title with Silver Strikers last season, has brought in Zicco Mkanda as strikers' coach and performance analyst while Victor Mphande is the new goalkeeper coach.


James Chilapondwa has retained his post as team manager with Noel Kaole joining as a fitness trainer, Felix Mwalule remains the team doctor and Malumbo Chikoko is the equipment manager. Ernest Vitto is the security officer and Chimwemwe Nkhoma has joined as the physiotherapist.


The changes have affected Michael Mhore and Heston Munthali served as first and second assistant coaches respectively for Pasuwa whereas Vincent Gona has lost his job as goalkeeper coach.
