Former Orlando Pirates midfielder Joseph Kamwendo has been suspended as Creck Sporting Club’s head coach after an indifferent start to the TNM Super League season.

However, apart from confirming the club’s decision to place him on a suspension, the Flames legend refused to comment further on the matter when Pan-Africa Football contacted him.

The Lilongwe-based club suspended the ex-TP Mazembe midfielder after a home 1-0 loss to his childhood club, Mighty Wanderers, in a TNM Super League match in Dowa District on Sunday, May 2025.

Assistant coach Abel Mkandawire and forwards coach Chiukepo Msowoya, yet another Pirates player, have also been suspended.

Media reports suggest that another assistant coach, Harry Saidi, has been placed in temporary charge of the club.

Club secretary Aaron Mtaya was quoted as saying the suspension seeks to pave the way to address the cause of the slow start to the season. The club has won once in five league games to remain second from the bottom, weeks after exiting the Airtel Top 8 quarterfinals.

Elsewhere, Premier Bet Dedza Dynamos FC has sacked coach Andrew Bunya hours after a home league 4-0 loss to Karonga United over the weekend.

The club’s administrator, Guston Kamkosi Banda, described the move as “both a strategic and technical decision, and we believe it shall form the basis for several professional activities we shall implement in the short run aimed at improving the team’s performance.”

“We apologise to our supporters and partners for our recent run of poor results, and the leadership is treating the matters at hand with the required level of urgency.”

Another Super League side, Mzuzu City Hammers FC's mentor Steve Mkwinika, has opted out of the Northern Region-based team to concentrate on his full-time job as a school head teacher, according to reports.  Hammers are smarting from a 4-0 loss to Civil Sporting Club in the Airtel Top 8 quarterfinal, second leg match on Saturday.
