Malawian Tabitha Chawinga basks in Lyonnes’ victory with double

Malawian Tabitha Chawinga’s double fired Olympique Lyonnes Women to a 6-0 victory over Saint-Etienne on Saturday.

The French Cup Round-of-32 match took place at Groupama Stadium.

The Scorchers’ captain scored in the 21st and 80th minutes with the other brace coming from Diani Kadidiatou, a French forward of Mali descent.

After the match, Chawinga took her Facebook page to celebrate her two goals.

“2 goals in a 6-0 win and we proceed to round of 8 in a Coupe de France Women Cup,” she wrote.

The former PSG star has since taken her domestic league tally to nine goals and three assists in nine games across all competitions.

During the game, there were further goals from striker Ada Hegerberg and defender Wendie Renard.

The emphatic victory in the one-way contest sent Lyonnes Women to the next stage of Round-of-16.

The French Women’s League champions will now return to league action as they face Lens on Wednesday.
