Mamadou Camara finally joins Al Ahli after protracted transfer saga

Senegalese midfielder Mamadou Lamine Camara has finally signed for Libyan outfit Al Ahli Tripoli after a protracted transfer saga.

While the disputed saga seemed to be bogged down by legal disputes and administrative obstacles, Camara’s transfer saga finally came to an end with Al Ahli officially announcing the arrival of the Senegalese midfielder from Moroccan outfit, RS Berkane.

Camara played a part in Senegal’s AFCON glory

The Libyan club has triggered the player’s release clause, estimated at a staggering €2.4 million, thus validating a transfer that had raised numerous questions during the past weeks.

The African champion was initially billed to depart Berkane but he was kept in Morocco due to disagreements over contract termination procedures but the long drawn dispute was ratified.

The Senegalese international is thus embarking on a new league after establishing himself in Morocco where he played five matches for Berkane before departing. The Libyan club has not, however, specified the length of the contract signed by the player.

The 23-year-old has six caps for the Teranga Lions, playing a key role in their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations glory where they defeated hosts Morocco 1-0 to win their second trophy.
