Fresh from celebrating their eighth successive league title, Mamelodi Sundowns have announced a new sponsorship deal, a move that strengthens their off-field operations.
Just two days after their decisive 3-0 victory over Chippa United at Buffalo City Stadium in East London secured their latest league title, Sundowns announced a new partnership. On Friday, the club confirmed that Chery South Africa has become their official vehicle partner, succeeding Hyundai in this role.
As part of the partnership, Chery will provide the Tshwane giants with a fleet of SUVs to facilitate their travel to matches and club commitments.
“Chery South Africa is proud to be the Official Vehicle Partner of Mamelodi Sundowns, one of South Africa’s most decorated and popular football clubs. Known as ‘The Brazilians’ for their bold style of play and their iconic yellow kit, Sundowns have a rich history that spans over five decades," said Sundowns in a statement.
"The club is a powerhouse locally and across the continent with a record number of league titles. They also have numerous domestic cups, and Continental triumphs in the CAF Champions League and African Football League."
Tony Liu, CEO of Chery South Africa, expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership, stating, "We are thrilled to partner with Mamelodi Sundowns. This collaboration reflects our commitment to supporting local communities and sports programmes in South Africa, aligning with our continuous efforts to make a meaningful contribution to the nation."
Meanwhile, Sundowns hairman, Tlhopie Motsepe, warmly welcomed the partnership, emphasizing the club's values:
“At Mamelodi Sundowns, we follow the philosophy of Ubuntu. Our success belongs to our supporters, our communities, and the people who make us who we are. We are delighted to welcome Chery to the Mamelodi Sundowns family because we are united by ambition and people-first values.”
In a gesture for their loyal fanbase, a lucky supporter attending the trophy presentation at Loftus Versfeld Stadium, where Mamelodi Sundowns will lift the PSL trophy for a record 15th time, stands a chance to win a Chery Tiggo 4 Pro.
Masandawana's final match of the season is against Magest FC this Sunday at Loftus Versfeld Stadium in Pretoria, with kickoff scheduled for 17h30.
