Mamelodi Sundowns continued their dominant form against the lesser sides of the Betway Premiership on Wednesday with a 3-0 victory over Chippa United at the Loftus Versfeld Stadium in Pretoria.
Iqraam Rayners scored again to mark his second consecutive match with a goal, converting an easy finish after Khuliso Mudau's cross left him with a tap in. Jayden Adams volleyed into an unguarded goal to make it 2-0 by halftime after Chippa goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali had difficulty handling Marcelo Allende's free kick service.
Thapelo Maseko came on as a substitute and wrapped up the victory, receiving a pass from Arthur Sales and finishing for his first goal in a long period. It is an encouraging sign from the 21-year-old Maseko who impressed at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations with South Africa before suffering a long-term injury that has caused him to struggle to get back into the Sundowns team.
Sundowns continue to march towards the title, moving their lead back to twelve points over closest contenders Orlando Pirates with two more matches played. Masandawana return to action with a more challenging opponent in the form of Stellenbosch FC on Sunday, also at home. Chippa United are in 8th place on 30 points.
