Faced with a potentially difficult opponent on Sunday in the Betway Premiership, reigning champions Mamelodi Sundowns responded with an efficient 3-0 victory over Stellenbosch. The Brazilians are now only a point away from mathematically confirming another league title and have all but accomplished the feat.

Three goals in the opening twenty minutes put away any doubts of Sundowns claiming all three points on the day. Lucas Ribeiro opened the scoring in the 6th minute before the Brazilian set up Iqraam Rayners six minutes later. Arthur Sales added one more in the 18th minute to continue the striker's hot run of form.

Sundowns are now fifteen points clear of second place Orlando Pirates, who have three games in hand but now can only tie Sundowns on points with a substantial deficit in the goal difference tiebreaker. The defending champions have all but confirmed another trophy and will look to finish the job with at least a point on Wednesday at Chippa United.

Stellenbosch are one point behind third placed Sekhukhune United as the battle rages on for a place in the CAF Confederation Cup next season. Stellies next host SuperSport United on Saturday.
