Man United boss Amorim: Bryan Mbeumo won’t be rushed

Manchester United coach Ruben Amorim has given a major update regarding his new signing Bryan Mbeumo as fans eagerly wait to see the striker in action.

The Cameroonian completed his hugely anticipated transfer to United from Brentford FC last week, ending weeks of speculation regarding his signing.

Mbeumo was expected to hit the ground running at the Old Trafford-based club after making the travelling squad for the pre-season tour of the United States.

However, Amorim left out Mbeumo from the playing squad that beat West Ham United 2-1 in New Jersey on Sunday. Now, the Portuguese coach has told MUTV that the Indomitable Lions forward will not be rushed into action.

“Bryan is starting slowly,” Amorim told MUTV. “He is not going to play in the next one. We hope to have Bryan in the last game [in the United States]. He’s training now, so we’ll see.”

This means Mbeumo will miss United’s next Premier League Summer Series game against Bournemouth, in Chicago, on Thursday.

The 25-year-old forward is expected to be handed his debut in next weekend’s clash against Everton in Atlanta on Sunday.

The striker was in red-hot form last Premier League season with Brentford, scoring 20 league goals. The Cameroon attacker has penned a five-year contract with United until June 2030, with the option to extend for a further year.
