Ruben Amorim silent on Onana's possible ManU recall

Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has refused to comment on the possible recall of goalkeeper Andre Onana in Thursday’s game against Lyon.

Amorin dropped Onana from United's playing squad which lost 4-1 to Newcastle United in a Premier League game on Sunday. Second-choice goalkeeper Altay Bayindir featured between the sticks and was far from convincing.

However, Amorim refused to blame Bayindir for the Premier League defeat.

“What I say is I will continue to do the same. We are going to analyse the game, but we need to focus on the next one. We cannot change this one. The next one is massive for us. Let's focus on the next one, to play better and win the game,” he told United media.

With United facing a must-win UEFA Europa League quarter-final second-leg match against Lyon, Amorim was non-committal on goalkeeping choice.

"You guys have to wait. We are going to start the next week tomorrow and then I'm going to choose the best starting XI for the next one," he said.

United, who drew 2-2 away to Lyon last week with two goals conceded due to Onana’s poor goalkeeping, must win the UEFA Europa League title to earn Champions League football next season.
