Swiss coach Markus Schmid fired up after first Ghana Premier League assignment

Swiss coach Fritz Markus Schmid‘s first Ghana Premier League assignment ended in victory after leading GoldStars to a nerve-wracking win over Dreams FC in their week 16 fixture.

The reigning champions slept on their oars, allowing Dreams FC to shoot themselves ahead twice early in the game at Duns Park before rallying to claim a shocking 3-2 win.

Schmid, who joined the Miners in a two-year deal, shared his thoughts in a post-match interview.

Markus Schmid Credits Players For Comeback Win

“First of all, I have to give them [players] a lot of credit for coming back in this game, and obviously, we had a difficult start.

“Dreams came up with an excellent game plan; they took us by surprise. They exploited our situation at the back because we had a few shortcomings with defenders, we had to change formation, so of course it is logical that you will suffer a bit,” he told Bibiani Gold Stars TV.

The result was the first three points for coach Schmid, but two straight victories for the Bibiani-based club, who share 28 points with Hearts of Oak in 4th after 16 league matches. Gold Stars are set to host Medeama in a week 14 outstanding game at Dun’s Park at 3:00 GMT on Wednesday.
