Saturday's early match from the English Premier League went from dismay to joy for Manchester City supporters who saw their team overturn a two-goal deficit to defeat Crystal Palace 5-2 at home.
Kevin de Bruyne, set to leave at the end of the current season, sparked the comeback for City who looked all out of sorts after conceding twice in the opening 21 minutes. De Bruyne pulled a goal back in the 33rd minute and then it was Egyptian forward Omar Marmoush who leveled before halftime with a powerful strike from close range following a penalty box scramble.
Mateo Kovačić struck early in the second half and City cruised to victory with further goals from James McAtee and Nico O'Reilly. The reigning champions are certainly out of the title race this season but are looking to rescue UEFA Champions League football for next season and now sit 4th place on 55 points, two ahead of both Chelsea and Newcastle who have games in hand.
Omar Marmoush continues to play well since being handed a bigger role after an injury to City goal machine Erling Haaland. The Egyptian has four goals in his last five matches for City, bringing his total to six goals from thirteen matches in all competitions.
