Mehdi Benatia, the sporting director of Olympique de Marseille, has expressed optimism regarding the Ligue 1 club's recent new signing Amine Gouiri.
Benatia spoke highly of Gouiri’s abilities, highlighting his versatility and potential to contribute to the team's games.
According to La Gazette Du Fennec, Benatia said: "He is always connected to the game. He could even play as a 10 or on the left if the coach changes his system."
Benatia continued about Gouiri: "He has talent, he has always scored goals if we look at his statistics. He can have a season with 18-20 goals, it's up to us to push him to the end to reach the peak of his potential."
Gouiri's transfer details
Amine Gouiri joined Marseille in a deal reportedly worth €19 million plus €3 million in add-ons.
The Algerian winger has signed a four-and-a-half-year contract and will wear the number 9 jersey.
The 23-year-old arrives to Marseille after spending two seasons at Rennes, having been signed for €28 million from Nice in 2022.
His arrival marks Marseille's second signing of the January transfer window, following the acquisition of Brazilian defender Luiz Felipe.
