Brazilian coach Leonardo Martins Neiva has declared himself free for a coaching role after leaving Kenyan Premier League champions Gor Mahia.
Martins Neiva was fired by K’Ogalo after only six matches into the 2024/25 season. He left Gor Mahia on mutual agreement with the club moving to appoint Zedekiah ‘Zico’ Otieno on an interim basis.
Neiva, who has already returned to Brazil, has confirmed he is looking forward to a new challenge. "I have been doing good jobs outside Brazil, the last at Gor Mahia FC, we managed to advance in the CAF Champions League, where we managed to achieve some goals,” said Martins Neiva.
“I've recently returned to Brazil and am in the market, looking forward to a new challenge in my career. The thought is to seek a relocation in the Brazilian market, I am open to proposals, but I also do not dismiss the possibility of returning to the foreign market, where I have been working more often.”
Since his exit, Gor Mahia have managed to win two straight matches. They beat Kakamega Homeboyz 2-0 after the international break before gunning down Mara Sugar 2-0. The coach who has worked in 10 countries on four continents, has the CBF/CONMEBOL PRO licenses.
He worked in the African continent, Asia, North America and South America. The coach also did a great job in the selection of Saint Christopher and Nevis in the Caribbean national team.
The coach made history by qualifying the selection to the second stage of the 2022 World Cup qualifiers, with an advance round. Something unprecedented in the history of the country. Only six of the 30 teams have qualified for this stage of the tournament.
