Alexandre Lafitte has finally been unveiled as the new coach of Marumo Gallants to the media with a promise to take the South African top-flight team to new heights.
The Frenchman was unveiled during a press conference on Monday in Sandton, Johannesburg.
“With a clear vision and determination, coach Lafitte is ready to lead the team into a new chapter and take us to the next level,” Gallants’ statement reads.
The 28-year-old has succeeded Abdeslam Ouaddou who left for Orlando Pirates. The UEFA A-Licence holder comes with a sound resume having steered Ivorian side State d’Abidjan to their first league title in 56 years.
During the ceremony, Gallants also unveiled the latest signings—Darrel Matsheke, Teboho Motloung, Bongolwethu Siyase, Abram Tjahikika, Simo Luthuli, Shaun Morgan, Jaisen Clifford, Kamohelo Sithole, Karabo Khoza and Bheki Mabuza.
The club’s management has since promised more arrivals to strengthen the squad ahead of the 2025-2026 Betway Premiership. The Bloemfontein-based team released players such as Gabadinho Mhango, Dino Ndlovu, Ibrahima Conde, Kenneth Nthatheni, Kopano Nthutsane, Theodore Shai, Kamohelo Mahlatsi, Vusi Sibiya and Daniel Akpeyi.
