Marumo Gallants have announced the appointment of Alexandre Lafitte as their new head coach for the upcoming 2025/26 season.
The Betway Premiership side confirmed on Thursday, June 26, that they've secured the services of the 28-year-old French mentor. Lafitte steps into the role vacated by Abdeslam Ouaddou, who recently joined Orlando Pirates.
Lafitte arrives with an impressive resume, having most recently led Ivorian side Stade d’Abidjan to a league title and a spot in the CAF Champions League group stages during the 2023/24 campaign.
The Bloemfontein-based club stated that Lafitte is expected to arrive in South Africa in the next two weeks, just in time for the team's pre-season training camp, which is scheduled to kick off on Tuesday, July 1, 2025.
Marumo Gallants president Abram Sello expressed his confidence in the young coach, emphasising that Lafitte has a "clear understanding" of the club's vision.
"Coach Alexandre has a clear understanding of the direction we are taking as a club," Sello remarked. "He joins ahead of pre-season, which is critical for continuity and alignment with our objectives."
