After representing Kenya in the TotalEnergies African Nations Championship co-hosted in East Africa, Harambee Stars striker Masoud Juma has landed a new club after signing for Lebanese giants Nejmeh SC.
Juma, who was a free agent, becomes the second player to join the club after Harambee Stars midfielder Anthony Akumu. “The African destroyer docking at the Manara Castle…Welcome Masoud Juma, the goal scorer,” Nejmeh confirmed the arrival of Juma.
“Kenya’s first striker, a shining name in the skies of African and Arab football. As a key player with his country’s national team, he has scored numerous goals in the World Cup and Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. He has made a fine-class striker.”
The statement continued: “Today, Masoud chooses Al-Nejma club to be his new station, and to write with Manara fans chapters of challenge, and starry. Masoud Juma the destroyer…The deal of the wine season, and a new icon in Lebanese stadiums.”
Juma made his senior international debut for Kenya in June 2017, when he was named to the starting XI of a 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match against Sierra Leone.
He was the subject of severe criticism from the Kenyan fans following his performance, mainly stemming from a missed shot in the early minutes of what eventually ended as a 2-1 defeat.
He earned his second cap during a friendly against Mauritania two months later, where he scored with a 58th-minute header. This match, however, was not considered a full international match, since Kenya fielded a ‘B’ team composed only of locally based players.
