Tawanda Maswanhise continued his push to top the Scottish Premiership’s goal scoring charts on Saturday, tallying both goals in a 2-0 home victory for Motherwell over Dundee United.
The Zimbabwean superstar seized sole control of top scorer honors and moved his club into fourth place on the table, making it three goals in his last two matches.
Visitors Dundee United showed little sign of claiming any points off the hosts, who controlled possession throughout and did not look back once their star forward finished from the penalty spot for his first goal in the 37th minute.
It was more of the same in the second half, which needed just over a minute for the goal specialist to complete his brace at Fir Park. A free kick restart in midfield saw Elliot Watt quickly loft a bouncing ball into the Dundee United penalty area. Maswanhise managed to control the ball with his back to goal before turning and sending a bouncing effort on goal.
Dundee United keeper Ashley Maynard-Brewer made an absolute mess on his attempt to save and the match was essentially over by that point.
