Maswanhise: Motherwell FC website
Zimbabwe national team striker Tawanda Maswanhise hopes the best is yet to come from him after sweeping Motherwell FC’s Player of the Month Award for January 2026 in Scottland.
The Warriors’ star received the G4 Claims Player of the Month accolade for the Scottish Premiership club following his stellar performances in January. The Scottish league is also called the William Hill Premiership.

In a statement, the club announced that Maswanhise earned the most votes from the fans to shrug off competition from teammates Elijah Just, Lukas Fadinger and Paul McGinn.
“The forward’s excellent displays during the month make him your player of the month. Scoring six goals in five matches, the Zimbabwe international moved top of the goalscoring charts in the Scottish Premiership. Well done, Tawanda,” reads the statement.
It is the second award this 2025-2025 season alone for the Zimbabwe national team forward, who was also named the best player in November 2025. Motherwell FC’s star Elliot Watt won a similar crown in December 2025.
Speaking to Motherwell FC media, the 26-year-old has since expressed his appreciation to the Scottish club’s supporters for recognizing his excellent displays in the gold and maroon.
“Thank you for the Player of the Month Award. It is the first one of the New Year. Hopefully, there are many more to come. I have to keep the fire burning. Momentum right now in the whole team and the morale are very high. The atmosphere is increasing week-by week, and hopefully I can keep on the ascendancy,” he said.
The 2026 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) discovery Maswanhise has been in top-form thereby attracting interest from teams such as Blackburn Rovers FC of England and Belgian side Anderlecht.
The forward starred for the Warriors at the AFCON finals in Morocco where he scored and provided an assist in his only first start in a game against South Africa. The Warriors lost 3-2 to Bafana Bafana to exit the competition from the group stage.
Motherwell FC manager Jens Berthel Askou will bank on the Zimbabwean on Wednesday when his club faces Scottish Premiership title challengers Rangers FC.
Motherwell sit fourth in the standings, 11 points below second-placed Rangers and 12 away from leaders Hearts FC.
