Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Premier League outfit Gor Mahia goalkeeper Gad Mathews has promised a strong comeback when they resume their hunt for trophies next season.

His sentiments comes after the record Kenyan champions, with 21 league titles, ended the 2024-25 campaign without silverware. Gor Mahia’s quest to win a third straight league title was stopped by Kenya Police FC, who were crowned champions for the first time with a game to spare.

K’Ogalo had another chance to finish the season with silverware – the domestic FKF Cup – but they failed to do so after losing the final to newly promoted side Nairobi United. In the final at Ulinzi Sports Complex, Gor Mahia suffered a 2-1 defeat.

“To our incredible fans, we know this season has been a disappointment. We understand your frustration and share in your disappointment. We didn't meet our goals, and we know we fell short of your expectations,” said Mathews

“We want to thank you for your unwavering support throughout this challenging season. Your passion and dedication mean the world to us. We've been analysing our performance and are already working on changes to improve for next season.

“We're committed to coming back stronger and making you proud. Your support is crucial, and we need you to stand with us as we work towards a better future. Let's do this together!”

Gor Mahia will not play continental football next season with their focus on reclaiming the Premier League crown.
