The 2025 edition of the renowned Maurice Revello Tournament kicked off in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region of France on Tuesday with the Mali under-20 national team falling by a 1-2 score to their counterparts from Panama.

A first half penalty kick conversion from Gustavo Herrera gave the Panamanians an advantage they would hold onto for the rest of the match. Raheen Cuello doubled the lead for Panama in the opening minute of the second half.

Despite featuring numerous European-based talent and a positive start to the match, Mali fell behind when goalkeeper Oumar Pona committed a foul in his penalty area to set up Herrera's spot kick. Pona was then beaten with a scorching high finish from Cuello before Les Aiglons could settle into the second half.

Mali did manage to find a late consolation goal. In the 90th minute, Manchester United midfielder Sékou Koné found Wilson Samaké with his free kick service for the Stade Rennais player to head in.

Les Aiglons return to action on Friday when they face hosts France at the Parc des Sports in Avignon.
